We're Having a Boy!!

We are so excited to have another little one! Lila has been such a great baby and I can't wait to see what little Calvin (we already decided his name) will be like. The due date is April 6, 2011. This pregnancy is going great so far and both of us are healthy. I've been feeling him kick more and more in the past week. Time is flying by.

Can't wait to meet you Calvin:)

Can't Sit Still

Lila is walking! She took her first steps on her own when she was 9 1/2 mths. She had been cruising along the couches the few months before that. It's amazing how quickly she improves!

This is what she does all day long:)

Personalities

I opened up the fridge the other day to find this and thought it was funny/interesting so I took a picture.

We had two of these cartons of chocolate milk and Chris decided to label one as his. I guess he thought only writing the message 'don't drink Ginny' wasn't enough so the skull and crossbones picture was also necessary to keep me from drinking it.
I think this scenario is a perfect example of Chris' personality (writing a ridiculous message on a milk carton and joke about not wanting to share). My personality is best described by how I react to such things (laughing while I drink the milk anyway). This also made me wonder what Lila's personality will be. Will she be like one of us or the other? Will she take a little from each of us or will she be completely different all together?
We will just have to wait and see:)
Here's all our personalities as they are now.

                                                                         Charming
                                                                         Honest
                                                                         Ready, Set, Go

Halloween Festivities!

Our first Halloween activity was getting pumpkins to carve.
This sign
was at a church where we bought our pumpkins. People think Mormons are weird, go figure.

Lila didn't know what to think about the pumpkins but I think she liked the wagon we used to haul them around in.

 These are our creations.
We also watched 'Tim Burton's, The Nightmare Before Christmas', it's a family tradition.

Chris' mom gave us this singing/dancing Frankenstein and Lila has a love/hate relationship with him. She always pushes him over when he's singing/dancing then she laughs and dances to the music.

Isn't she the cutest witch ever?!
Chris and I didn't dress up this year but I think we will from now on. It just makes it more fun.

I made these candy men for the kids in my Sunday school class.

Lila's first Halloween was a hit!
Hope yours was too:)

Nana and Grandpa Johnson Visit

They just had to come see Lila and how much she's grown. So they packed up the car and made the drive from Utah. Gifts were involved of course.
Lila playing with her new Cabbage Patch Kid.
Lila loves these toy beads! She chews on them and is always carrying as she moves around the room.
Chris and I were able to go to the Temple together while Nana and Grandpa watched Lila and toured the Mormon Trail Center.

We also went to

Where Brigham Young was sustained as the 2nd prophet and president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

It has been great living close to and visiting these church history sights. They are a constant reminder of how much the pioneers sacrificed to bring forth the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm so grateful for their example of faith and diligence.

Lowell and Sharon left us for a few days and visited some more sights. They originally intended to go to Adam-Ondi-Ahmen then onto Independence, MO. Instead, they headed to Nauvoo, IL after Adam-Ondi-Ahmen. They were able to go to the Nauvoo Temple while they were there and ran into some old friends from California. It really is a small world.
They came back and stayed with us for one more day then headed back home.

Thanks for coming:) We loved having you here!

It's coming...I can feel it!

Today, Lila put my hand in her mouth and sarted sucking on it. I felt a sharpness on her bottom gum. Lila's first tooth is coming through!!!

Can you see it...can you? Yeah, neither can I, but I can feel it!

Lila is Crawling!!

This first video is of Lila beginning to crawl last week.

This second video is of her crawling today.

I'm so amazed at how fast she improves. I shouldn't be, cause she practices everyday. All her hard work has paid off:)
She can also sit up on her own too. I love watching her learn and grow!!

Keep on Comin'

The visitors just keep on comin' and we love it! We've either had family or friends come to visit once a month since May. Our friends, Jeanne and Kent Lamb, stopped by on there long road trip from CA. They haven't seen Lila since she was 3 mths. old and she's grown so much.

Jeanne and Kent holding Lila before bedtime.

I don't know how many times they had us over for dinner and games. It felt like old times. We ate and played games:)

Playing games. Jeanne threw the dice to make it an action shot.
Thanks for coming. It was great seeing you guys!!

Anyone else want to come visit? We'd love to see you:)

Thank Goodness for Honest People!!!!!

We ran some errands today. Wal-Mart was our last stop and after leaving we realized our diaper bag was left in the grocery cart. Chris raced back as we both prayed we would find it. I prayed over and over in my head, 'please let the bag be in the cart or please let an honest person find it and turn it in to lost and found'. I started to think of all that was in the bag and became more and more nervous if we couldn't find it.
I can't blog without putting up a pic.
Our diaper bag with my phone and wallet. My wallet pretty much has my whole life in it and to replace everything would have been such a pain.
We drove by where the cart was left and it was empty. So, we went inside to lost and found hoping someone had turned it in. Of course there were like a billion people in line before me. Chris said he was going to walk around. I thought he was walking around the store looking to see if anyone had our bag. Then I imagined this scenario where he sees the bag in a person's cart. He approaches them telling them that's our bag. Then the thief attacks Chris by hitting him with the bag and then runs off. It's crazy where your mind goes when you are nervously waiting in a long line. Finally, it was my turn at the service desk and asked if a diaper bag had been turned in. As I watched the clerk walk to the back to look for it, I saw it on the ground behind a table. Relief immediately followed:) How great is that!!! Everything was safely in the bag as it belonged. This reminded me of another time when I lost my wallet during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. An honest person found my wallet and called phone numbers on a list inside and then turned it into the police station. Thank goodness for honest people. They still exist and prayers are answered!!!!

A Long Drive But Totally Worth It

My parents drove from FL, after stopping in Chattanooga, TN for a family reunion. They got here late Sunday night. I had a few activities in mind for us to do throughout the week giving them the first day to rest from the long drive. To my surprise, my dad knocked on our bedroom door at 8:30am and asked 'Are you gonna sleep your life away?' Apparently, I was wrong about resting and we headed out to see some sights. My dad requested to see Rosenblatt Stadium and eat at Zesto's, home of the town's BEST cheeseburger. As for the BEST part, it depends who you ask but it was an experience:)
.

He ordered the double cheeseburger and could barely put his mouth around it for a bite..

Mom and dad in front of the stadium.

Then we went to the Winter Quarters Temple and
.

Mormon Trail Center.

The next day I had a couple doctor appointments so my mom watched Lila for me.
.

Lila loved grandma reading to her.

My dad and Chris had to work the next couple of days so my mom, Lila and I went out. My mom really wanted to go to the Botanical Gardens and the Zoo. So we went.

My mom in the center of the Rose Garden.
. The Train Garden. Everything except the trains were made from natural materials. They also had a replica of old town Omaha.

Lila loving all the beautiful scenery and looking beautiful too.
.
Then we went to the zoo. Where we saw
.

a bear sleeping in a tree.

.

A monkey asking for a hand-out.

In the Desert Dome we saw a

Bobcat!

Then on our way out

my mom pretended to be a lion. Really, she made lion sounds while I took the picture.

That night my parents took us out for a Omaha Steak dinner and it was SO GOOD.

Friday morning, Lila helped my dad with work while my mom and I
went to the Temple.

That afternoon, we went searching for where my dad's mom, Grandma Virginia and Great Grandma Florence used to live. We had 3 addresses. The first two looked like this,
vacant lots.
And the third address is now a homeless shelter neighoring a detox center.
But my dad was happy to see they named a street after his grandma.

Friday night dinner.

Thanks mom and dad for cooking the whole week!

Sad you had to go:( Thanks for coming. We love you, miss you and can't wait to see you next!

It's Hard to Tell....

Does Lila think baby food is
.
Yummy
.
or Disgusting?
.
We have way more pics of her looking like she hates it. Either way she's got to keep eating it:)
.
Here are more pics of her eating.
.
What do you think?
