Time Is Flying By

I can't believe our new baby will be here in less than 4 weeks! (The picture above is the latest maternity shot.) I can't tell how much Lila and Calvin are aware of the big change that is about to occur. I'm sure they will love having a new brother or sister. It will be interesting to see how Calvin responds to the task of big brother though. Lila is a pro and I can always count on her to be my helper. She lifts me up when I'm down. Calvin is my comic relief. I wonder what this new baby will bring into the mix. I'm sure we will all figure out a way to manage this big change and enjoy it.
Here are some updates. Lila was a champ at potty training. I knew she would make it easy on me and I'm so very grateful. She is still learning but we are so very proud of her and this big step she has made. Calvin loves using utensils to eat and still loves to eat. He is also working on drinking from a cup without getting it all over the place.
I don't have a latest picture of Chris but he's been working hard and makin' it look good;)

He Speaks

Calvin is talking more and more! I can't believe how fast he is growing and changing. I know I probably say that in every post about my kids but it's so true. Calvin has been saying a few words for a while but even without the recognizable words, he is constantly communicating with us. His sounds/grunts are very distinct. I can ask him if he wants to eat and he immediately runs to his chair. He gets super excited and does a little dance when he hears anyone mention going upstairs or heads in the direction. I love watching him grow and develop:) He has also started to use utensils to eat and drink from a cup on his own. It's a work in progress but he enjoys doing it on his own. This is a fun stage and he is such a fun little boy:) Busy, but very fun! Here's a video of him talking.

In case you couldn't pick them out, he said bubble, Lila (his very first word to say), thank you, and dadda in the video. He also says momma and bye bye. He has said other words such as water and night night but they're not as commonly used as the others.
We love our Calvin!

First Day of Potty Training

Well, it's that time. Or at least I think it is. Either way, Lila started potty training today. Within the first 20 minutes, she peed on me while sitting on my lap. Nice, huh:) The day got better after that. She had 5 victory pees on the potty. (Chris thinks its funny I call them victory pees, but that's honestly how I feel when she pees on the potty. VICTORIOUS!) Anyway, the day was looking good and when Chris got home we gave Lila a surprise for doing so well. He bought her nail polish and I painted her nails and toenails. She looks so cute with her nails painted:) Maybe she's too young for it, I don't know. What I do know is she LOVED her surprise! We were feeling pretty good, then it happened. She peed while sitting in her chair, eating dinner:( Oh well, she'll get it eventually right?
Look at my beautiful girl with her adorable little body. How can you be mad about pee on the floor/chair/your lap?
Can't wait 'til tomorrow:)

I Don't Know Why I'm Surprised

Our printer isn't in operation right now so I asked Chris to print up a few copies of a recipe I needed for a recipe exchange.
This is what I sent him:

This is what he came home with:

I'm pretty sure our kids will get better grades if they have Chris help with school projects rather than if I help them.

The Weekend

Our weekends typically consist of grocery shopping and hanging out. Nothing too exciting but Lila and Calvin keep us busy and entertained so we aren't bored either. This past weekend however, we did something out of the ordinary. Friday, I had heard Chick-fil-A was offering free meals to anyone who dressed up like a cow. I'm all about free stuff, especially if it doesn't take too much effort to get it. Chris came home from work and we all put on black shirts and taped white paper spots on for the 'cow look'. Easiest costume (I use that term loosely) I've ever made. The food was delicious and free. The kids had fun until the cow did a surprise attack. Not really, but their reactions would make you think they were being attacked. Calvin freaked out and was paranoid the rest of the time, constantly looking over his shoulder. Lila was scared at first but then warmed up to the large animal. All in all, we had a great start to our weekend.
Can you see Calvin crying as he stares at the cow?
Chris took this picture and we didn't get one of him in his get-up. I did however get him in the picture below.
Saturday, we went to the temple. It was a nice day until our drive home. While driving, we heard a loud noise but couldn't figure out what it was. A little while later, we heard it again and also saw a large black object fly out when I looked out the back window. We pulled over and Chris noticed the entire tread was ripped off one of the back tires. That was the black flying object I saw. Even though changing a tire is annoying, the whole process went fairly smooth. The situation could have been a lot worse and we were blessed no one got hurt.
Sunday, we went to church as usual and it was a calm day. Chris made some homemade frozen yogurt and it was delicious. Those were the highlights of our weekend.
I wonder what's gonna happen this week.

Fireworks?

Who needs 'em, right? Our kids were in bed before it was dark outside, so fireworks don't really fit in with our 4th of July celebration just yet. We did have a fun BBQ with friends though. You can't go wrong with delicious burgers and hot dogs and tasty watermelon and homemade ice cream and great company! It was a  fun day. Hope yours was too.

Happy 4th of July!

25 Weeks

Actually, I'm at a point where I want to start counting down. I have 15 weeks to go, and that doesn't seem so bad. This pregnancy was rough in the beginning. It's been my most difficult pregnancy so far. I'm sure it's because I have to take care of Lila and Calvin, all while being tired and uncomfortable and grouchy. I keep thinking of all the women I know who have more kids than me and have been pregnant more times than me. I don't know how they did it. ANY of it. I'm guessing they just did it and it became doable, if that makes any sense. I can remember how hard I thought it was with just one baby, now I have two and don't know why I ever thought one baby was hard. I guess things just work out when we do our best and rely on the Lord for help. That's my plan, anyway.

Here's a picture for posterity's sake.
