A Long Drive But Totally Worth It

My parents drove from FL, after stopping in Chattanooga, TN for a family reunion. They got here late Sunday night. I had a few activities in mind for us to do throughout the week giving them the first day to rest from the long drive. To my surprise, my dad knocked on our bedroom door at 8:30am and asked 'Are you gonna sleep your life away?' Apparently, I was wrong about resting and we headed out to see some sights. My dad requested to see Rosenblatt Stadium and eat at Zesto's, home of the town's BEST cheeseburger. As for the BEST part, it depends who you ask but it was an experience:)
.

He ordered the double cheeseburger and could barely put his mouth around it for a bite..

Mom and dad in front of the stadium.

Then we went to the Winter Quarters Temple and
.

Mormon Trail Center.

The next day I had a couple doctor appointments so my mom watched Lila for me.
.

Lila loved grandma reading to her.

My dad and Chris had to work the next couple of days so my mom, Lila and I went out. My mom really wanted to go to the Botanical Gardens and the Zoo. So we went.

My mom in the center of the Rose Garden.
. The Train Garden. Everything except the trains were made from natural materials. They also had a replica of old town Omaha.

Lila loving all the beautiful scenery and looking beautiful too.
.
Then we went to the zoo. Where we saw
.

a bear sleeping in a tree.

.

A monkey asking for a hand-out.

In the Desert Dome we saw a

Bobcat!

Then on our way out

my mom pretended to be a lion. Really, she made lion sounds while I took the picture.

That night my parents took us out for a Omaha Steak dinner and it was SO GOOD.

Friday morning, Lila helped my dad with work while my mom and I
went to the Temple.

That afternoon, we went searching for where my dad's mom, Grandma Virginia and Great Grandma Florence used to live. We had 3 addresses. The first two looked like this,
vacant lots.
And the third address is now a homeless shelter neighoring a detox center.
But my dad was happy to see they named a street after his grandma.

Friday night dinner.

Thanks mom and dad for cooking the whole week!

Sad you had to go:( Thanks for coming. We love you, miss you and can't wait to see you next!

  1. Don't you love that zoo!? We love going to the zoo and then stopping in for a crunch cone at Zestos. And Omaha steaks...nothing better! Hope you're enjoying Omaha.
