We drove to Flat Rock, NC yesterday to pick apples and enjoy beautiful scenery. It was very beautiful and we had a lot of fun with good friends. First, we tried the famous 'made right in front of you' apple donuts. They were delicious! Then, the kids played on the playground while we waited for our hay ride. Which should have been called a tractor pull because there was no hay, but whatev. Then we started the apple picking. Lila kept saying things like 'let's go pick apples off the tree!' and 'hey momma and daddy, we gonna pick apples off the tree!'. She really enjoyed it for the first little bit, but when she was done, she was done. Calvin enjoyed the playground, the donuts, and watching Chris jump up to reach some of the apples high on the tree. We picked about 25 lbs of apples, so the trip was well worth it. I just hope the pies and applesauce we make, which I have never made before, turn out. All in all, we really enjoyed our trip and plan to do it again next year:) Here's pics from the day.
